The Surroundings
We are situated in the “Local Natural Park of Haut Languedoc” protected environment of flora and fauna.
Below the house numerous paths are available (including GR77 Notre Dame de Trédos – Chemin de Saint Jacques de Compostelle). Numerous caves and sinkholes are located in the small valley surrounding the hamlet.
To the North (about 30 km), the town of La Salvetat-sur-Agoût offers a regional mountainous architectural style (roofs made of flat stones called “lauses”. The lake-filled plateau offers you many water-based recreational activities.
To the South (about 30 km), Saint Chinian opens the doors of its dellars in the heart of wine country and of its typical small farm houses of the Béziers-area back country.
To the East (about 25 km), the listed village of Olargues, is dominated by an imposing steeple. Its bridge “Pont du Diable” and its houses are especially well conserved.
As you continue you journey (about 5km further on), “Les Gorges d’Héric” are ideal for strolling along the banks of the river and relaxing by the waterfalls.
Lastly to the West, nearer to Euzèdes (about 11 km), Saint Pons de Thomières, in the heart of the district, is renowned for its mineral springs, its marble, its ancient benedict abbey its XIIth century cathedral (with an organ from 1772). Each Wednesday morning at the open air market, on the main plaza in the shade of the sycamore trees, you will find the products of the land.
Continuing your course towards Courniou (another 5km ) you will be able to visit its caves.
